# Payment Providers in Peru: Yape, Plin and Available PEN

When comparing payment providers in Peru, start with the receiving business and the evidence it needs after a customer pays. A familiar Yape or Plin payment experience can sit alongside very different arrangements for the receiving account, staff access, reporting and settlement. Those differences matter when a business moves beyond one owner checking one phone.

## A numerical starting point for the provider comparison

We reviewed **28 unique historical payment offers** linked only to this country: 16 collection offers and 12 payout offers. They provide a structured starting point for comparing payment costs, access to funds and operational requirements. 81 additional offers linked to several countries are excluded from the country-only calculations below.

The source is the PayStar export dated 14 September 2026, supplied by payment gateways. We recomputed its aggregates, but did not independently verify its commercial statements. This is a historical sample, not a market survey, a count of PSPs or methods, or proof of active connections and current availability. Conditions can change weekly or more often. Independent country, currency and method associations do not establish every possible payment route. Direction counts and settlement-label charts cover all recorded currencies. Only the percentage comparison below is restricted to explicit PEN fee records.

## What the recorded PEN percentage components show

We calculate the arithmetic mean of explicit percentage components stated in PEN, giving each comparable offer equal weight. A record qualifies only when its structured percentage matches one unambiguous percentage in the original fee description. Offers in another fee currency, missing percentages and ambiguous descriptions are excluded.

We also exclude bound or conditional percentages such as “from”, tiers and explicitly restricted customer categories. Exact nominal percentage components with fixed minimums or caps can remain in the sample; those minimums and caps still affect the final charge.

| Direction | n | Mean | Median | Range |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Collections | 16 | 4.21% | 3.88% | 3–8% |
| Payouts | 12 | 2.69% | 2.5% | 1–4.1% |

Explicit PEN percentage components only. n is the comparable sample in each direction; missing fees are excluded, not zero. [Download SVG](https://paystar.uk/peru-payment-solutions/media/2026-10-08-v2/charts/fees-en-desktop-download.svg)

**These are percentage components, not all-in payment prices.** Fixed charges, FX, tax, reserves, minimums and charges for refunds or other exceptions must be assessed separately. This sample is not weighted by payment volume, contains no measured conversion rate and cannot rank provider quality. Small or insufficiently independent groups are withheld.

### A hypothetical payment calculation

Take an illustrative payment of 20 PEN; this is not a typical market ticket. Applying the rounded means shown above gives:

- Collections: 20 PEN × 4.21% = **0.84 PEN**.
- Payouts: 20 PEN × 2.69% = **0.54 PEN**.

Each line is a separate direction, not a combined service quote. The arithmetic shows only the percentage part. Ask for an actual quote at your ticket size, volume, business model and settlement currency before calculating net proceeds.

## When money becomes usable matters

Collection offers across all recorded currencies. T/D labels are recorded as supplied, without assuming calendar or business days. Other includes complex labels and pooled groups below 3 records. No guaranteed settlement time. [Download SVG](https://paystar.uk/peru-payment-solutions/media/2026-10-08-v2/charts/timing-en-desktop-download.svg)

A successful payment notification and money available to your business are different events. Treat recorded settlement labels as questions for a provider: what starts the clock, which cut-off applies, are weekends counted, which account is credited, and can a reserve or review delay availability?

For payouts, agree prefunding, beneficiary validation, rejection handling and how returned funds appear in your balance. An incoming-payment settlement label does not prove payout completion time.

### A cash-buffer planning example

If a business must fund 2,000 PEN of obligations per day, a one-day gap requires 2,000 PEN; a three-day gap requires 6,000 PEN. The additional buffer is 4,000 PEN. This is a hypothetical constant-flow model, excluding fees, reserves and volatility, not an observed settlement promise.

## Specify acceptance beyond familiar wallets

A familiar payment app does not define the product your business will contract. Start with the exact receiving profile and sales channel: how does the customer pay, and what evidence reaches the merchant?

[Plin's official website](https://plin.pe/) describes mobile-number and QR transfers through participating institutions, alongside QR collection instructions for businesses. Confirm available functionality with the relevant institution. A demonstration using a personal account therefore leaves important questions unanswered for a company seeking merchant acceptance or business payouts.

Ask the candidate provider to show the intended merchant configuration, using the payer apps and sales channels your customers will actually use. A successful in-store scan does not establish an online checkout, recurring collection or payout capability.

## Identify who receives, and who can verify

The receiving profile affects day-to-day operations. [Yape's access guidance](https://www.yape.com.pe/preguntas-frecuentes/yape-empresa/como-puedo-acceder-a-yape-empresa) distinguishes Yape Empresa from Yape Empresa Acceso Empresarial. Check the requirements for the proposed profile, including account ownership and authorised representatives. Do not infer corporate eligibility from an employee's existing app account.

Yape's [enterprise portal](https://empresas.yape.com.pe/) describes multiple QR codes organised by location, till or collaborator, with reporting and staff payment-verification features. These are useful subjects for a merchant demonstration; the page does not prove that another provider exposes equivalent functions through an API.

For each proposed arrangement, establish:

- **Receiving identity:** the account holder, trading name presented to the payer and legal entity in the merchant agreement.

- **Operational attribution:** whether a receipt identifies the location, till or order, and which fields survive into an export.

- **Staff permissions:** who can verify receipts, who can view wider business information and who can authorise outgoing money.

- **Exceptions:** how the merchant investigates a payment that a customer reports as complete but staff cannot find.

Yape's [POS payment instructions](https://www.yape.com.pe/productos/yapea-en-los-pos) tell the payer to check the amount and company name. For your own acceptance test, inspect that customer-facing identity alongside the receiving record. This is a recommended merchant control, not a claim that every QR service provides the same confirmation data.

## A hypothetical two-location test

Imagine a retailer with two locations, each taking a PEN 120 payment at roughly the same time. One customer pays from Yape; the other uses Plin. The owner wants staff to verify receipts without sharing unrestricted access to the receiving account.

Before rollout, ask the candidate to demonstrate the proposed QR arrangement at both locations. Can each cashier identify the correct receipt? Can the owner export two distinct records with their location references? Can a staff member confirm receipt without gaining permission to send money? If the till reference is absent, agree how the order will be matched before relying on that workflow.

The example is hypothetical. It illustrates a qualification exercise, not a PayStar customer result or a guarantee that every candidate supports these controls.

## Qualify PEN payouts separately

A collection arrangement does not automatically provide a suitable way to pay suppliers, contractors or customers. Define the recipient types, permitted payment purpose, required beneficiary details, funding account and authorisation process separately.

Local business-payment documentation shows why the distinction matters. [Interbank's supplier-payment service](https://interbank.pe/empresas-instituciones/pagos-cobros/pagos/pago-proveedores) has its own account, online-banking and payment-contract requirements. That is a public example of a separate business service, not a recommendation or confirmation of availability through PayStar.

| Decision | Collections | PEN business payouts |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Who is identified? | Receiving merchant and sales location | Funding business and intended beneficiary |
| What is demonstrated? | Payer journey and merchant receipt | Accepted instruction, beneficiary result and exception handling |
| What does finance reconcile? | Gross receipts, charges and settlement | Funded amount, outgoing payment, charges and returned funds |

Ask what happens when a payout is rejected or its outcome remains uncertain, and what evidence is required before retrying. For a business incorporated outside Peru, obtain confirmation of entity eligibility, account requirements and the proposed movement of funds. Domestic PEN acceptance alone does not establish cross-border settlement or permission to serve a particular activity.

## The role of PayStar

PayStar provides information for comparing payment solutions and, where agreed, a technical layer for connecting and operating them. PayStar is not a bank or payment service provider and does not accept, hold or settle customer or business funds in its own name.

You select the payment provider and enter into a direct agreement with it. The provider processes payments and performs settlement under that agreement. Local eligibility, required authorisations and commercial terms must be confirmed for your company and use case. A method described in this article is not a promise that it is available through PayStar for your business.

Information about payment options is free. Payment processing and any agreed technical services have separate commercial terms.
