For businesses comparing payment providers in Vietnam, a QR code is only part of the collection service. The important question is what the payment tells your business: who paid, which purchase it covers and where the money arrived. A successful scan can leave finance with an unresolved invoice if those connections are missing.

Vietnam's payment infrastructure offers useful distinctions here. VietQR bank transfers, VietQRPay merchant payments and bank collection services can supply different information. Choose the arrangement around your sales process, then qualify VND payouts separately.

What our Vietnam offer review shows

PayStar's snapshot dated 14 September 2026 contains 44 unique recorded payment offers linked exclusively to Vietnam: 27 incoming and 17 outgoing. All 44 have a VND currency association.

These are recorded offers, not independent providers or confirmed live gateways. Country, currency and method associations do not establish every possible route. The sample helps organize a provider search; availability and merchant eligibility need separate confirmation.

Specify which VietQR service is being proposed

NAPAS describes FastFund 247 with VietQR as a way to transfer money between accounts at participating banks by scanning a code. It reduces manual entry of account details. That describes the transfer experience; it does not establish which invoice your accounting system will close. NAPAS: FastFund 247 with VietQR.

Merchant acceptance has a more specific description. In its August 2026 announcement about VietQRPay, NAPAS explains that transactions connect to order information and payment amounts, supporting reconciliation and the handling of inquiries and refunds. Use this as a requirement to investigate, not proof that any offer labelled VietQR includes those functions. NAPAS: VietQRPay merchant context.

Ask the PSP to identify the product, accepting institution and receiving account behind its QR proposal. Then request a demonstration of the merchant's records, not just the customer's scan. Establish whether a code belongs to a shop, customer, invoice or individual purchase, and which references survive into reports.

Match the collection identifier to the business

A bank collection service provides another useful comparison. BIDV describes virtual-account collection that links designated identifiers to a main account. An identifier can represent a customer, product or service category, or invoice. Those are different levels of detail. BIDV: management of receivables.

Consider a hypothetical hardware wholesaler. A trade customer owes VND 1,200,000 on one invoice and VND 800,000 on another, then makes one VND 2,000,000 payment. A customer-specific identifier may establish who paid while leaving the allocation across invoices to the wholesaler's accounting process. An invoice-specific arrangement may expect a different payment journey.

Before choosing a PSP, use synthetic records to demonstrate that combined payment. Ask which identifier reaches the collection record, whether the remittance information contains both invoice references, and how finance allocates the receipt without marking another invoice paid by mistake. Then test a customer paying each invoice separately. These are evaluation scenarios, not claims about a particular bank's implementation.

The output should be a clear allocation rule and an exception owner. Decide who investigates a receipt that identifies the customer but not the invoice. Include fees and the receiving-account entry in the demonstration so the process supports reconciliation, not only checkout confirmation.

Establish the receiving entity before integration

Account onboarding is a separate question from QR functionality. BIDV's corporate FAQ describes legal-entity evidence, representatives, beneficial owners and account-use documentation. Its eligibility discussion includes different resident and non-resident organization categories subject to applicable requirements. BIDV: corporate account questions.

Treat that as one bank's documented process, not universal access for every foreign business. Confirm which entity will contract, own the receiving account and conduct the underlying activity. Ask the proposed provider to identify the applicable onboarding, service-authorization and settlement requirements for that structure. A demonstration using somebody else's account does not settle those questions.

Separate overseas customers from overseas settlement

Vietnam also has specific cross-border QR arrangements. NAPAS's July 2026 Singapore launch describes participating Singapore apps paying at VietQRGlobal acceptance points in Vietnam. This is a defined acceptance arrangement, not a promise that every QR code accepts every foreign app. NAPAS: Vietnam–Singapore QR launch.

If international customers matter, specify their payment applications and the required acceptance channel. Separately establish where your business receives funds, in which currency, with which conversion and reporting. Visitor acceptance does not establish eligibility for an overseas merchant or permission to remit proceeds to a foreign treasury account. Those require their own provider and regulatory assessment.

Qualify VND payouts and refunds independently

For supplier or other business payouts, define recipient categories, payment purpose, beneficiary details and expected volumes. Ask which checks occur before submission, what confirms completion and how an unresolved result is investigated. Confirm funding, transaction limits and any batch-approval process for the proposed service.

A merchant refund needs its own link to the original collection and evidence of completion. Do not assume that a fresh VND transfer automatically updates the purchase, invoice balance or refund report. Compare how each operation appears in the merchant's records and account statement.

Build a shortlist around your collection process

Share your company jurisdiction, business activity, invoice structure, customer payment journey and payout requirements with PayStar Discovery. Discovery helps structure the research and qualification of suitable PSP options. You select and contract directly with the provider; the PSP processes and settles payments under that agreement.
