Choosing payment providers in Bangladesh starts with a precise description of how money should move. A customer paying your business, your business paying a recipient, and that recipient withdrawing cash require different checks—even when the same wallet name appears throughout.

For this review, we examined the Bangladesh-specific offers in PayStar’s export dated 14 September 2026. There were 88 unique offers linked exclusively to Bangladesh, all associated with BDT: 46 marked for incoming payments and 42 for outgoing payments.

Within that sample, 51 offers carried a bKash label and 55 carried a Nagad label. Those groups overlap. The numbers describe our research sample and help organize a provider search; they do not establish market share, merchant eligibility or current availability.

The useful next step is to turn those labels into a comparison of actual business operations.

Start with the operation behind the wallet name

Three questions help separate the requirements:

OperationWhat your business needs to establish
Customer paymentHow the customer pays for an order and how you receive confirmation
Business disbursementHow your business sends money to an eligible recipient
Recipient cash-outHow the recipient converts wallet funds into cash, if needed

bKash describes online payment services for businesses and provides a separate application process for them. Its online-business form asks about the business, its website or app, identification, trade licence and bank account. These are useful prompts for preparing a provider discussion; the application page itself does not establish acceptance of a particular merchant. bKash Online Business.

bKash also describes corporate disbursement services for payments to employees, retailers and business partners. That is a separate business requirement from collecting a customer's purchase payment. bKash Corporate & Enterprise.

For Nagad payment acceptance, ask the prospective provider to identify the merchant arrangement and payment operation included in its proposal. A method label in a commercial offer leaves these details to be qualified.

Make the customer payment flow visible

When evaluating bKash merchant payments or another proposed wallet option, ask the provider to demonstrate the journey on the devices your customers use.

A useful demonstration follows one order from the customer's payment instruction through to confirmation in your business records. Establish which reference connects the payment to the order, which result allows you to fulfil it, and what happens when a customer closes the page or the payment remains pending.

Include an unsuccessful payment and a refund request in the discussion. Ask how each is investigated and which evidence the provider supplies. A polished checkout demonstration answers only part of the operating question.

Keep a separate row for each wallet and operation in your comparison. Confirm the proposed merchant service, supported business activity, transaction limits and exception handling for each row. Shared branding or a combined offer does not establish identical terms.

Define BDT payouts through to the recipient

A payout brief should say who receives the money, why they receive it, and what successful delivery means.

For example, a marketplace collecting customer orders and paying sellers has two requirements to qualify. Its provider discussions should cover collection acceptance and seller disbursement separately, including whether the proposed arrangement supports that business model.

Ask what recipient information is required, how recipient eligibility is checked, and which confirmation proves delivery. Establish what happens when a payout is rejected or its outcome remains unclear, including when any reserved balance becomes usable again.

Cash-out adds another step if recipients need physical cash. bKash describes withdrawal through agents and selected ATMs, with charges associated with those services. A credit to a recipient's wallet therefore does not by itself describe the recipient's eventual cash position. bKash Cash Out.

If your business promises a specific amount available in cash, clarify who bears any withdrawal cost and which assumptions support that promise. Keep the provider's business payout quote and the recipient's potential withdrawal charges separate in your calculation.

Compare the money available to your business

Collections and payouts also affect your working balance differently.

For collections, ask when confirmed customer payments become available for settlement, which account receives the proceeds, and which deductions appear in the settlement report. If the proposal uses a timing label such as T+1, define the starting event, cut-off and treatment of non-business days.

For payouts, establish whether money must be funded in advance, how quickly that funding becomes usable, and what happens to balances allocated to pending or failed payments.

Then compare proposals against the same operating scenario: expected monthly transaction count, typical and larger payment amounts, peak payout days, and desired settlement currency. Ask each provider to identify percentage charges, fixed charges and any separate funding or settlement costs that apply.

The decision should reflect both transaction cost and how much money the business needs available to operate.

Turn a Bangladesh requirement into a focused shortlist

Prepare one short brief covering:

  • Business activity, website and company registration country.
  • Customer collections, business payouts or both.
  • Required wallets and recipient types.
  • Minimum, typical and maximum amounts in BDT.
  • Expected monthly volume, transaction count and peak activity.
  • Preferred settlement currency, schedule and funding arrangements.

PayStar Discovery helps organize these requirements into a PSP shortlist with the commercial, technical and operating context needed to evaluate it. You choose the provider and contract with it directly; the PSP remains responsible for approval, processing and settlement under that agreement.
